Intro to Disability & Ableism Training
EPIC’s Intro to Disability & Ableism Training gives participants a greater understanding of the Disability Community and Ableism. Participants will examine how ableism impacts their lives, work, and our world during this interactive training. Through an intersectional lens, participants will explore identity, the medical vs. social models of disability, the systemic oppression of people with disabilities, and how to begin to address ableism in our everyday lives and work.
Workshop Details:
Time: This is a one-session, three-hour workshop that includes breaks.
Modality: This is a virtual workshop hosted on Zoom. The training is interactive, utilizing large group conversations, breakout rooms, and activities.

Yes, you will receive a certificate within 10 business days after the trainings completion.
All of EPIC's workshops currently open for individuals to register are only offered virtually.

Yes, you can. However, although we encourage individuals to schedule themselves to ensure that we are getting all necessary information such as individual contact information, reasonable accommodations, etc. If you do register others, please ensure you have all of this information for each individual that you register.
Yes, multiple people from one organization/workplace can register for a training. However, please note, that a max of five people from one organization/workplace can register for the same training/session.

No, each person must be logged on to their own device. Due to the interactive nature of EPIC's virtual training, in order for each person to fully participate and maximize their experience during the workshop they must be logged on to their own device.
Most of EPIC's workshops/series do not have pre-requisits to register.
Occassionally there are trainings that require individuals to have already completed EPIC's Intro to Disability & Ableism Training. If there is a requirement, this will be made clear before registration.
Yes, all materials, PowerPoints, and handouts will be made available to all those who register and attend the training.
No, due to the nature of EPIC's interactive trainings and topics, we do not record trainings to ensure a safe and confidential learning environment for participants to be able to explore difficult topics such as ableism, oppression, and intersectionality.
EPIC provides discounts to current students, AmeriCorps members, and Triangle, Inc. employees. For more information on discounts please reach out to trainings@epicleaders.org
If you register for a training and are no longer able to attend, you must notify us a minimum of 10 business days before the training to receive a refund. No refunds will be provided less then 10 business days before the registered training. However, we can change your registration to a future date if you would like.
